eSite x10 is ruggedized in its overall design with components which themselves have been ruggedized. The system is also equipped with three independent rectifier channels per unit. External additional rectifiers are not required in order to achieve the necessary power conversion redundancy while at the same time the peak power conversion efficiency occurs at 95% power utilization or higher, significantly better than in competing systems.
eSite x10 has been designed for the lowest possible total cost of ownership (TCO), with a mean time between failures (MTBF) of over 350,000 hours in even the most challenging outdoor telecom site environments.
It avoids unexpected OPEX exposure for callouts to the site due to tampering, clogged cooling filters, fake spares, damaged electronics (due to bad quality power inputs), etc., because it has been designed from the ground up to be immune from all of these typical issues. In fact, the eSite x10 unit – with its ruggedized, tamper-proof sealed unit and no moving parts – requires almost no maintenance. In the unlikely event of failure, the entire top compartment is simply hot-swapped with zero downtime.
As for the rest of the site infrastructure, eSite x10’s fully integrated eSite Tools suite collects all the necessary data to optimise service visits for gensets, batteries and any other attached peripheral equipment. Site visits can therefore be properly planned, enabling the right person with the right tools and spares to be sent to the site, thus enabling a huge reduction in typical operational spending.

When deployed at a good grid site, eSite x10 allows the combination of rectification of the grid power with solar energy, for which solar converters already are an integrated part of the unit. In locations where grid power is expensive, adding solar power to those sites, in combination with a battery bank, has never been as easy as with eSite x10.
When deployed at a bad grid site, eSite x10’s integrated protection against power surges and grid instability come in to its own. And its unique soft switching allows easy integration with other power sources.
When deployed on an off grid site, eSite x10’s resilience and robustness is especially important, as they are typically remote and visiting them for whatever reason is therefore very costly. The need for such visits can be greatly reduced through the use of eSite x10.
The eSite x10 RSY has built-in support for 6kWp solar power (or ~40sqm of solar panels), as this is typically what can be effectively fitted into telecom tower sites. With the harvesting of solar energy reducing the use of diesel power and increasing battery life, the result is a very short payback period for solar panels. And as solar panel prices continue to commoditise, the business case for solar power will only continue to improve.
In some cases operators will avoid connecting sites to a highly unstable power grid due to the damage it can cause to a telecom site power system’s power electronics. But in doing so, the opportunity to harvest valuable grid power is lost.
